Tonight we watched a movie "The gods must be crazy" (funny movie!) with the 110 kids here who don't have family to visit for the holidays. They all got pop corn and candy bags. After the movie was over, they divided up into groups of about 11 each, and we had 8 activity stations set up. They traveled in their groups to each station to play a game, or make a craft, or other activity. That was lots of fun. I got to lead the game Chubby Bunny. It was so hilarious, from big kids who could fit 5 or 6 marshmallows in their mouth and almost make out "Feliz Ano Novo", to the little 5 year olds who could barely hold 2 marshmallows in their mouths. And then those who started laughing and out came the marshmallows in a sticky, disgusting mess:-) Ah, what we do for a good time!
At the end of the activities the kids had a blast dancing to music. Then we calmed them all down and put on another movie and served them sausage sandwiches and bottles of pop. At midnight we went down to the soccer field for fire works. Unfortunately for many of them the day of the bombs is still fresh in their memories. As soon as the fireworks started all the girls took off running and screaming in terror. They have seen them every year, but they were convinced this year that the fireworks would fall from the sky (what goes up must come down, right?) and they were crouching in fear. Poor little ladies. So I went after them and we sat on one of the missionaries porches and those brave enough stood on the edge to watch, the rest hid by the side of the house.
It was an exciting evening! I just got off the phone with my parents, to let them know the year 2009 is a good year! They still have 5 1/2 hours before they enter into the new year. They are 7 hours behind us. My sister Christina wanted to ask, as she was talking to me into the future, if she had broken her new years resolutions yet? Lol
*HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! God bless you richly in the year 2009!!*
